Mid-Illinois Sport Horse Organization
MISHO is a not-for-profit organization. Volunteers are the whole reason activities can take place in MISHO. We have an all-volunteer board and committee structure: volunteers assist with shows and clinics, write newsletter articles, help with annual awards banquet, and so much more. Every member of MISHO is encouraged to volunteer at the many events and programs put on by MISHO. MISHO also encourages members to volunteer at non-for-profit organizations in their area.
Typical volunteer jobs for specific types of events include:
Educational Clinics
– Host the event at your farm and have the arena groomed and ready to go!
– Set up/take down chairs, tables, PA system, signage for parking and directions to event, as needed.
– Host/drive out of town clinicians, riders, or auditors.
– Provide refreshments.
– Develop and sent out marketing materials for event.
– Provide 'thank you' cards or other acknowledgment to volunteers who helped.
– Develop and track budget for event.
Horse Shows
– Manager
– Secretary
– Scorer
– Ring Steward
– Tack checker -- USEF dressage rules on tack.
– Scribe (max 2/day/judge) -- read USDF Guide for Scribes and know tests being scribed.
– Arena groomer
– Announcer
– Test runner (from judges box to scoring area)
– Set up the arenas -- guide to arena set up
– Fundraiser (sell class sponsorships and advertisements for program)
– Stable Manager (if stalls provided)
